How Long Are Sessions?

At Gay Counseling individual sessions are typically 60 or 90 minutes. Couples sessions are always 90 minutes. We recommend clients attend sessions once a week. Depending on the nature of a client’s needs, meeting twice a week is also available.

What forms of payment can be used? What are your rates?

Preferred payment is cash or check. Credit cards and Venmo can be processed as well. Many our our clients purchase transformation packages which provide savings for clients. Average standard hourly fees are listed below. Please inquire about package pricing.
Individual Core Energetics session fee is $135 per 60 minute session

Individual Core Energetics session fee is $185 per 90 minute session
Couples Core Energetics session fee is $210 for 90 minutes
Individual Reiki session fee is $90 for a 60 minute session
Sliding scale exceptions are available on a limited basis

What is your cancellation policy?

Twenty-four hour notification of appointment cancellation is required. Please be sure to provide a full 24-hour notice for cancellations or a fee for the full session will be charged. In addition, if you arrive after the start of your scheduled appointment, you will still be expected to pay for the session in full.

What insurance do you accept?

Most insurance carriers do not provide coverage for holistic / alternative care providers. Thus, Gay Counseling practitioners can not direct bill any insurance. If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA), Medical Savings Account (MSA), or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you could have your Primary Care Physician write a prescription for alternative counseling including Core Energetics. Most plan administrators will then allow you to use funds in these accounts because you have a prescription. Always best to verify with you plan administrator.

What is your confidentiality policy?

Everything you discuss with your Gay Counseling practitioner is held in strict confidentiality. The only person, with whom we may discuss your case, in an effort to ensure our work with you is free from personal bias, would be with a therapeutic supervisor. Your identity however will never be revealed.

Please be aware that there are certain conditions in which the law requires that we break confidentiality. These include but are not limited to the following: 1) if you present an imminent danger to yourself 2) if you present an imminent danger to another person 3) if there is reason to believe that child or elder abuse or neglect is present.

How long does counseling or coaching last?

The length of time a person chooses to stay in counseling or coaching depends on the individual. It depends upon what your individual goals are and what you are hoping to get out of the counseling or coaching. Treatment is more effective when the client attends weekly sessions. Sometimes a person comes in to work on one specific goal and an awareness develops, about the need to work on other goals as well. Our ultimate goal at Gay Counseling is to empower you to function better on your own.

What do I wear for treatments?

You are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing, remove shoes and unnecessary heavy jewelry for sessions. During Core Energetics sessions, clients are often actively moving their body so workout clothing is recommended.

Are Gay Counseling Practitioners licensed?

Core Energetics and Transformational Coaching is a not a form of medical treatment, nor is it in the category of traditional psychotherapy or counseling. As such we do not claim that Core Energetics be used as a substitute for any of these. If you are considering working with a psychologist, psychiatrist, psychotherapist, or counselor, you are certainly welcome to discuss this decision with us; however the decision is entirely up to you. Please know that David & Bentley deBardelaben-Phillips & Tristan Avery are not licensed mental health providers. David and Tristan are Certified Core Energetics Practitioners. Bentley is a Certified Exceptional Relationship Mentor.

Who operates Gay Counseling?

The Gay Counseling website is owned and operated by David Phillips & Associates LLC dba Energetic Awakenings. All practitioners listed on the site are independent contractors. Any disputes with a practitioner must be handled directly with the practitioner.
